Keeping Busy

Since we have gotten back from our trip to California I have had "the itch to stitch." I was lucky enough to be able to sit down with a family friend who is an absolute pro at sewing and have her teach me a few things. I wish that I had been able to get more time, but I was grateful for the time that I did get. The last several months I have been craving to do something more with my time and my life in general. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love being a mom and a "homemaker" but I have just been feeling like there is something more out there for me. So since I have been home I have been thinking of lots of crafty projects that I could do that would help full fill this void. I'm nervous to announce this since it is still in the very early stages, but my sister in law, Kathryn, and I have decided it would be a lot of fun to start a little store on Etsy. I have added a button on the blog so it can be easily accessed. Please feel free to check it out, its called "The Dragon's Fairy Tail Shop." So with getting the shop started and doing other little projects around the house I have kept very busy and have been loving it. Of course perfect timing on my part to start all this when I am due in less then 6 weeks :)

We decided to paint Abby's room (well more like I decided) Her walls were stark white, her bed was white, and her dresser was white. It needed some color in there. Before pictures of Abby's room

She wanted to help

Base color for the room is done

Abby wanted to help add the polka dots. She had just woken up from a nap, hence the crazy hair :)

The room is officially done. We tried to match the colors to her comforter as best as we could. And the polka dots and random brown circles are just like what is on her comforter.

I wanted to post a picture of the parts of the bedding that I have so far for the baby. The family friend that helped show me some things about sewing was nice enough to offer to make our baby's bedding. So this is a picture of the absolutely adorable crib bumper that she made along with the brown crib sheet that matches. On the side if you can notice is also a matching receiving blanket. I LOOOVE how it all turned out. She is also going to make a crib sheet and quilt and I can't wait to see those because I just LOOOVE how these turned out!

Closer look at the bumper

Another receiving blanket she made. I loved this cute lion material, and it matches the paint in the room perfectly.

Vacation...

We just got back from our little summer vacation. Phillip has had most of Aug off and is officially done with his first year of school! YAY!!! We stayed in town for the first week and a half of break just getting caught up with projects around the house and his parents came for a little visit too. Then we headed down to California. We stayed at my brother's house for the first couple days, then we stayed at Phillip's parent's house, then we stayed at some cottages on the beach in San Onofre. Our trip consisted of golfing and sushi of course for Phillip, me getting a mani/pedi, learning how to sew and working on some projects, Disneyland, birthday dinner for my sister, Bunco, staying on the beach for 3 days then last but not least Sea World. It was a very busy but so much fun for two weeks!

Random Picture, but I thought it as cute...

Abby and her friend Bailey on their hike with the dads at Mount Charleston.

Disneyland! We actually lasted about 10 hours there believe it or not. Despite the hot and humid weather, the crowds, a 7 and a half preggo lady, and a 20 month old, it was a successful trip!

Our friends from school and their little girl Bailey got to come to Disneyland with us! So this is Bailey and Abby anxiously waiting to meet Tigger.

Chilling at the beach ALL day at San Onofre. Luckily my parents brought their "easy up" so we could have shade. Our cottages were walking distance to the beach!

Surfs up! haha

It felt nice to float on the boogie board and be almost weightless!

Right after boogie boarding, the waves wore me out

Sea World. We sat front row at the dolphin show. I should have taken a before and after shot of us. We got pretty wet!

Elmo ride at Sea World, my camera lens was all foggy, sorry.
